This website was created out of a desire to house all of the necessary information to adequately prepare for the Royal College psychiatry exam. This can feel like an overwhelming process, however with organization and planning you will get through it!
Generally, residents start preparing in early PGY-5 year. It is a marathon, not a sprint - so pace yourself. Focus on the most important topics and resources first. Do lots of practice MCQs and OSCE cases. Prioritize time for self-care and wellness also.
The following information comes from the RC website:
The Royal College Examination in Psychiatry is a two component examination consisting of a written component and an OSCE component. The written component of the examination will be taken in early Spring, and eligibility to challenge the OSCE component will be based on performance on the written component. Only those candidates passing the written examination will be invited to the OSCE examination. The pass score is 70% for each component.
The content of the examination is based on a blueprint that reflects the Objectives of Training in the specialty of Psychiatry to ensure that the examination is well balanced. The depth of required knowledge is also covered in this document and all candidates are strongly urged to read it.
